Remembering Dr. Gladys Taylor McGarey
November 30, 1920 - September 28, 2024

Dr. Gladys left this earthly plane Saturday, September 28, heading for new horizons we’ve only dreamt of.

Dr. Gladys leaves behind a legacy of love rooted in the most important secret she shared: Love is the most powerful medicine. She often talked about the 5Ls: Love, Life, Labor, Laughter, and Listening, pointing out that love must accompany each of the other Ls for them to lead to health and happiness. “Once you’re able to receive love, health and happiness will follow. Then the only natural response is to start spreading it to everyone you meet.” We are so very grateful for the love, joy, and wisdom she shared and hope these continue to ripple far and wide.

In regard to the first secret to health and happiness shared in her book “You are here for a reason,” Dr. Gladys wrote: “living with purpose can actually help us live longer – and better. And the joy it brings to our lives will ripple out to the world around us.” She truly lived this way, working tirelessly on her most recent 10-year plan to the very end, and her work lives on through The Foundation for Living Medicine which will continue to work to further Dr. Gladys’ legacy, including her vision for a Village for Living Medicine.

If Dr. Gladys touched your heart, please consider contributing to The Foundation for Living Medicine’s efforts to KEEP her legacy alive through educational programming, media projects and her long held vision to create THE VILLAGE FOR LIVING MEDICINE, a state of the art, health services campus embedded in her philosophy of living medicine.  Thank you for helping us keep her legacy alive.

In honor of Dr. Gladys, let us embrace her mantra “Be Glad” and continue spreading the waves of her love, wisdom, and joy across the globe.

Remembering Dr. Gladys

I’ve been thinking everyday of Dr Gladys since I have listened to her book just in the past couple of months. She spoke to my soul. I got on the website today to see if the workshop in October still had space. I so wanted to meet her. Rest in peace Dr. Gladys and know that you are a true inspiration to many. I will think of you often and attempt to live as you did. ❤️. My thoughts and condolences to all who knew her.
What an inspiration Dr Gladys McGarey was. Coming across her work was an absolute joy—I couldn’t believe what this beautiful little lady was doing at the age of 103. Her heart was so full of love and compassion, and her stories were so inspiring, sometimes humourous, and so insightful. When I discovered she was doing weekly live video sessions, I was in awe. She touched my heart as she did so many. Thank you for all you shared. With love, Kathryn
I was so sad to hear of your passing this morning as I woke up. I’ve never met you but I cried as you made such an indelible impact on my life. Your books inspired me to be a better person. Your love was transcendent and I enjoyed your jolly spirit on your videos. Rest easy and fly with the angels. You did good ❤️
Angeles welcomed their newest member, and I have no doubt many more miracles will follow with Dr. Gladys by their side. Dr. Gladys had a special gift for making everyone she met feel loved and cherished. I remember bringing my grandson to meet her, and when he struggled to say “Gladys,” he called her “Dr. Lettuce” instead. She adored it so much that she insisted he call her that every time we were together. I first met Dr. Gladys at the Hilton Hotel in Newport Beach, California, where we discussed how her message of living medicine could reach new heights. Our shared passion for life and its endless possibilities sparked an instant connection. From that moment on, we built a beautiful friendship, and with Rose Winters, we embarked on new and exciting adventures together.
I just recently found Dr. Gladys on YouTube, maybe about a month ago. I downloaded her audio book and was enjoying it so much that I looked up more of her interviews on YouTube. I kid you not, I admired and adored her so much that I decided to adopt her as my soul grandmother and began sharing her words of wisdom with my co-workers. I’m sorry to hear of her passing. I’m also very grateful that I was able to be blessed by her love. What an amazing and inspiring woman.
In loving memory of Dr. Gladys McGarey, whose remarkable presence graced our world for over a century. Her compassion, wisdom, and strength touched countless lives, leaving a legacy rooted in love and service. A true visionary, Dr. Gladys uplifted and inspired everyone she met, showing us how to find beauty and purpose even in difficult times. She exemplified aging with grace, vitality, and curiosity, reminding us that life can be vibrant and fulfilling at any age. Though we mourn her loss, we are forever grateful for her brilliance and the light she shared. Rest in peace, dear Dr. Gladys. Your impact will never be forgotten. 🕉️ Lindi LaBine • October 4th, 2024
I am forever grateful for the inspiration and hopeful message Gladys offered my family and myself during a very difficult period last spring and summer. My father was diagnosed with cancer and her book ‘the well lived life’ came to us at just the right time. Her focus on love and juice changed my life for the better and helped me navigate through the toughest and scariest moments with courage and optimism. Thank you so much. The book will stay on my nightstand. Be Glad, Gladys ♡
She was truly an inspiration to us all! I loved listening to her and loved her book. I read it over and over. Thank you Dr. Gladys! Rest in Peace.
This amazing woman saved my life! Many years ago I visited her office in Scottsdale suffering from serious immune problems. She advised a two week course of caprylic acid with a diet routine to go along with it. I never had this “incurable” disease return! I still have the instructions and paperwork from over 30 yeas ago and I have paid it forward to others. Years later I was lost and saw her at her daughter’s office for a talk. She was magic. I am forever grateful and blessed to have met her. I am heart broken and shocked as she was so full of life. I know she would not want me to feel that way, but she will never be forgotten and I send love to her and those who will miss her.
