Remembering Dr. Gladys Taylor McGarey
November 30, 1920 - September 28, 2024

Dr. Gladys left this earthly plane Saturday, September 28, heading for new horizons we’ve only dreamt of.

Dr. Gladys leaves behind a legacy of love rooted in the most important secret she shared: Love is the most powerful medicine. She often talked about the 5Ls: Love, Life, Labor, Laughter, and Listening, pointing out that love must accompany each of the other Ls for them to lead to health and happiness. “Once you’re able to receive love, health and happiness will follow. Then the only natural response is to start spreading it to everyone you meet.” We are so very grateful for the love, joy, and wisdom she shared and hope these continue to ripple far and wide.

In regard to the first secret to health and happiness shared in her book “You are here for a reason,” Dr. Gladys wrote: “living with purpose can actually help us live longer – and better. And the joy it brings to our lives will ripple out to the world around us.” She truly lived this way, working tirelessly on her most recent 10-year plan to the very end, and her work lives on through The Foundation for Living Medicine which will continue to work to further Dr. Gladys’ legacy, including her vision for a Village for Living Medicine.

If Dr. Gladys touched your heart, please consider contributing to The Foundation for Living Medicine’s efforts to KEEP her legacy alive through educational programming, media projects and her long held vision to create THE VILLAGE FOR LIVING MEDICINE, a state of the art, health services campus embedded in her philosophy of living medicine.  Thank you for helping us keep her legacy alive.

In honor of Dr. Gladys, let us embrace her mantra “Be Glad” and continue spreading the waves of her love, wisdom, and joy across the globe.

Remembering Dr. Gladys

Thank you Dr Gladys for all the positive energy you brought to Earth and all the souls you helped along your recent journey 💛 fly high and keep spreading your gift ⚡️🕊️⚡️
I’m so sorry to hear of Dr. Gladys’s passing. It has been a joy and a privilege to read all of her books and to have gotten to hear her speak in person twice. Thank you, Dr. Gladys, for your wisdom, your service, your commitment, and your joy. I introduced someone new to your work just last week, and your impact will continue to ripple. Blessings to all who are missing her presence.
Dr. Gladys has been one of the most inspiring people I’ve known through talks on living medicine, along with all her books with wonderful down-to-earth stories of her’s and her patients. She will live on thru her ideas and her living example.
I just finished her book, The Well-Lived Life, and I was so touched that I wanted to reach out to Gladys, only to find that she passed away just a few days ago. The Life-Well Lived is certainly true for her. She faced many challenges, and she remained positive and hopeful. This book has inspired me, and I feel so grateful.
Dr. Gladys was Love In Motion. Everywhere she went, she made ripples of healing love that will continue expanding for generations to come. Her dedication to holistic medicine was unparalleled. I knew her through Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. and the American Holistic Medical Association which she co-founded and I served on the board. Bless you, Gladys McGarey. I will love you eternally.
I once attended a leadership conference where a keynote speaker said we should treat everyone as if they were wearing a sign on their forehead that said “Make me feel important.” The first time I met Dr. Gladys, she presented me with an autographed book of Born to Heal with a personalized message to me. I felt like I was meeting a celebrity, and yet she totally made me feel important! Despite being so accomplished and admired, her focus was always on spreading love and light onto others. Her loving kindness, wonderful stories, and incredible wisdom will remain in my heart and continue to guide me in my life’s journey. I am so very grateful to have crossed paths with such a beautiful soul!
In loving memory of Dr. Gladys McGarey, whose presence blessed this world for over a century. She lived with such grace and authenticity, touching the hearts of so many with her compassion, wisdom, and strength. Dr. Gladys’s legacy is one of true service, rooted in love. Her wisdom flowed like a gentle stream—soft, nourishing, and steady. Her words and presence had the power to uplift, soothe, and awaken something deep within those fortunate enough to cross her path. She was more than a healer; she was a visionary, a trailblazer, and a gentle force of nature. Her life was dedicated to nurturing and guiding others, always reminding us to seek beauty and meaning even in the most difficult moments. She made us believe that life could be vibrant, purposeful, and fulfilling, well into our later years. To me, and to so many others, Dr. Gladys was a living testament to the possibilities of aging with grace, vitality, and curiosity. She embodied the spirit of a woman who continued to grow, evolve, and inspire right until the very end. Her laughter, her joy, and her fierce dedication to life will forever remain etched in our hearts. While it’s a great loss to no longer have her with us, I’m so grateful that the world was able to experience her brilliance for as long as we did. Her legacy will live on in every soul she touched and every life she transformed. Rest in peace and power, dear Dr. Gladys. Thank you for sharing your light and wisdom with us. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. 🙏✨💕
Dr. Gladys taught me a fresh, new prospective of life. I am forever grateful for her vision of love, joy and wisdom. I will so miss her weekly live IG chats with Dr. Katey.
